The staff of the Department of Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management sincerely congratulates Professor Piven Olena Petrovna!

Elena Petrovna entire career as a scientist and teacher is closely linked to pharmacy. Since 1977, after graduating with honors from the Kharkiv Engineering and Economic Institute (now Kharkiv National Economic University), she worked at the Kharkov Research Chemical-Pharmaceutical Institute (what was then called the State Scientific Center for Medicines) in the Laboratory for Technical and Economic Research, where went from economist to lab supervisor. In 1999 she headed the laboratory of marketing, technical and economic research, and in 2006 ‒ the department of marketing research and coordination of research works.

Elena Petrovna’s research was related to the feasibility studies in the field of creation and organization of production of pharmaceuticals, marketing research of the pharmaceutical market, marketing aspects of innovative development of the pharmaceutical industry, issues of pricing and pricing policy for medicines. In 1988, she defended her Ph.D. thesis on “A Comprehensive Study on the Improvement of the Organization and Planning of the Production of Bindings”. In 2003, the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine was awarded the academic title of senior researcher in the specialty “Drug Technology and Organization of Pharmaceutical Business”, and in 2005 the next stage of the scientific work ended with the defense of a doctoral dissertation on the topic “Theoretical and organizational principles of increasing the efficiency of scientific and industrial production activities of the pharmaceutical industry».

Since October 2005, Olena Petrovna started working part-time at the National University of Pharmacy at the Department of Management and Marketing in Pharmacy, and since October 2008 she moved to a full-time position as Associate Professor, where since September 2011 she worked as a professor.

The academic title of Professor Piven Olena Petrovna was conferred in 2014.

She is the author of more than 150 scientific works, among which 60 articles have been published in professional journals, 3 certificates of copyright for scientific development, 1 monograph co-authored with 9 scientific methodological recommendations. Under the scientific guidance of Piven O.P. two PhD theses were prepared. Annually, Piven O.P. lectures in a master class and is the supervisor of master and diploma works of graduate students.

At the Department of Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management, Professor Piven O..P teaches disciplines: Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management, Marketing Research in the Perfume and Cosmetics Market, Marketing Research in Pharmacy, Marketing for an Industrial Enterprise, Marketing Pricing, and Marketing. She is the author of the training manual “Workshop on Industrial Marketing”, approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, co-author, educational and methodical manual on management and marketing in pharmacy, author of numerous methodological recommendations on the subjects taught at the department.

Deep knowledge and accumulated experience contribute to the involvement of Professor Piven O.P. in active community work. She was a member of the Working Group on Pricing for Medicines of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (2000–2002), a member of the Specialized Academic Council at the State Scientific-Production Center “DNCLZ” D 64.817.01 (2007–2011), a member of the testing committee on the specialty 15.00.01 – drug technology, organization pharmaceuticals and forensic pharmacy (2014). Until now, she is a member of the editorial board of the scientific and practical journal “Pharmacom”.
