The III Scientific and Practical Internet Conference with International Participation «Actual Problems of Quality, Management and Economy in Pharmacy and Health Care» was held at the Department of management, marketing and quality assurance in pharmacy of the National University of Pharmacy.
The scientific event was devoted to the discussion of topical issues of quality control, management, reform of the national health care system, and the development of pharmacy. Its purpose was to identify ways to improve the economic and innovative activities of enterprises (organizations, institutions) in a market economy, as well as the training of highly qualified personnel by involving scientists, practitioners, teachers, researchers, doctoral students, graduate students, and entrepreneurs from Ukraine and other countries.
The conference was attended by researchers from foreign countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Poland) and scientists from leading domestic higher education institutions (National University of Pharmacy, Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University, M.Ye.Zhukovskiy National Aerospace University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute”, Bogomolets National Medical University, Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv, Cherkasy Medical Academy, and others), as well as practitioners from JSC “Farmak,” PJSC SIC “Borshchahivskiy CPP, PRJSC Pharmaceutical Firm “Darnytsia”, Vetsintez LLC, МSD Ukraine LLC and others.
The conference also brought together practicing doctors and healthcare leaders (State Institution “Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine,” Municipal Regional Infectious Disease Clinical Hospital of ZOR, Zaporizhzhia, and others) to discuss current issues in the healthcare system of Ukraine.
The III Scientific and Practical Internet Conference with International Participation «Actual Problems of Quality, Management and Economy in Pharmacy and Health Care» was held on the Zoom video conferencing platform, covering the following areas:
- Trends and prospects for the development of quality assurance and management in pharmacy and healthcare.
- Standardization and quality assurance at the stages of the life cycle of medicines (from development and research – to production, implementation, and application).
- Implementation and development of quality management systems (QMS) and integrated management systems (IMS) at chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological enterprises.
- Regulatory activities in the field of the circulation of medicines.
- Current problems of reforming the health care system in Ukraine.
- Prospects for further integration of management, marketing, and logistics.
- Modern mechanisms for intensifying socio-economic development and increasing competitiveness at the level of the country, industry, region, enterprise (organization).
- Formation of the professional competence of the future specialist.
- Current problems and prospects for the development of pharmacoeconomic and clinical studies.
- Results of scientific research of higher education applicants.
The conference was opened by the head of the department of management, marketing and quality assurance in pharmacy at the National University of Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Honored Worker of Pharmacy of Ukraine, Prof. V.V. Malyi. He welcomed all participants, wished them productive work, and the achievement of new scientific accomplishments. Prof. V.V. Malyi also outlined the key issues planned for discussion during the conference.
The conference dedicated to current issues of quality, management, and economics in pharmacy and healthcare covered a wide range of topics that are crucial for the development of this field in the face of modern challenges, particularly under martial law conditions.
PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, A.V. Myhal (JSC “Farmak”), focused in his presentation on management tools and addressing “bottlenecks” in analytical research and development. His talk was dedicated to the implementation of optimization methods for analytical processes, which enhance the accuracy and efficiency of scientific research in the pharmaceutical field.
Scientists at the Institute of Biology, Pomeranian University (Słupsk, Poland) – PhD student Małgorzata Gradziuk, Professors Halina Tkaczenko and Natalia Kurhaluk – emphasized the importance of standardizing the production conditions for blood and its components. In their presentation, they highlighted the need to unify procedures to ensure high-quality standards.
Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor S.M. Kovalenko at the National University of Pharmacy presented a study aimed at improving the effectiveness of internal audits in pharmaceutical organizations. In her presentation, she highlighted the importance of implementing modern methodologies for process monitoring, which enhance the efficiency of quality management.
T.V. Zborovska, PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor at the National University of Pharmacy, discussed the role of environmental management and quality management systems in the context of the circular economy and sustainable development in her presentation. She emphasized the importance of implementing sustainable development principles in the pharmaceutical industry to reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency, which are critical for ensuring the long-term development of the sector.
Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor O.V. Litvinova at the National University of Pharmacy, and Prof. Dr. Atanas G. Atanasov at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, highlighted the prospects of the medical use of cannabinoids. They noted the potential of cannabinoids, emphasized the need for further research to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of cannabinoid-based medicines, and underscored the importance of raising awareness about the risks associated with their use.
The development of standard operating procedures for the use of electronic systems in clinical trials was the key topic of the presentation by M.V. Ulyanivskyi, an employee of MSD Ukraine LLC, and T.V. Krutskykh, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor at the National University of Pharmacy. The speakers emphasized the need to implement such procedures to ensure transparency, efficiency, and compliance with modern international standards in conducting clinical trials.
PhD in Economics, Associate Professor at the National University of Pharmacy, Ya.M. Derenska focused on the current state of the labor market for pharmacists. In her presentation, she thoroughly examined employer requirements and current trends shaping the professional environment.
I.V. Zhokov, a PhD student at the Bogomolets National Medical University, under the supervision of Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor L.O. Hala, presented the methodological foundations for developing a pharmacist’s protocol for dispensing reimbursable medications for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. He emphasized the importance of a unified prescription formatting standard to ensure patient safety and reduce errors.
The topic of improving the quality management system in the pharmaceutical industry became central in the presentations of Medical University, Sofia (Bulgaria) students Tomova Hristiana Angelova and Kazakova Velislava Hristova. They emphasized the importance of continuous improvement of standards to ensure the safety and efficacy of medicines, as well as compliance with international standards in the context of a changing regulatory environment.
T.M. Kravets, an employee of the pharmaceutical firm “Darnytsia,” in her presentation, revealed the importance of stimulating innovative development in pharmaceutical companies based on the leadership concept. She emphasized the need to implement leadership strategies aimed at supporting innovation processes that allow companies to remain competitive in the market, ensure high product quality, and meet consumer needs amid rapid changes in the pharmaceutical industry.
All the presentations emphasized the need for continuous improvement in the industry, adaptation to new challenges facing the pharmaceutical sector, as well as the importance of international cooperation and standards to ensure high quality and safety of medical products in a global context.
It should also be noted the positive contribution of students at the National University of Pharmacy in the programs “Management, “Management of Health Care and Pharmaceutical Business,” “Pharmacy,” and “Quality, Standardization, and Certification” (Y.I. Bazalayev, K.O. Ilyina, T.M. Kravets, E.E. Kuzminova, and others) to the scientific dialogue and their active participation in the conference.
As part of the roundtable “Innovative approaches to quality, management, and economics in pharmacy and healthcare,” poster presentations were showcased, highlighting the latest approaches and research in the field of pharmacy and healthcare. Conference participants had the opportunity to learn about the results of scientific research, innovative management methods, and new technological advancements that contribute to improving the quality of pharmaceutical services and enhancing efficiency in healthcare. Specifically, advanced technologies were discussed, such as artificial intelligence to improve quality standards, mobile pharmacy points for public convenience, and innovative solutions for developing organizational culture in pharmaceutical companies, among others.
Participants emphasized the importance of integrating the latest technologies into pharmaceutical practice, such as the use of digital tools to ensure the safety and quality control of medicines, as well as the role of legal regulation for the effective implementation of international standards in pharmaceutical legislation. All these innovations aim to improve the accessibility and quality of healthcare services for the public, enhance the efficiency of enterprises, and provide adequate support for the development of the pharmaceutical industry.
The posters presented at the conference became an important tool for exchanging experiences, formulating recommendations for the further development of this field, and integrating innovations into pharmaceutical practice.
The conference participants positively evaluated the results of the event, highlighting the expansion of collaboration between scientists, practitioners, educators, researchers, doctoral candidates, postgraduates, and entrepreneurs. They also emphasized the high significance of the topics raised, underscoring their practical value and scientific importance. Specifically, innovative technologies were discussed that could contribute to the further development of the pharmaceutical industry in the face of contemporary challenges. The organization of the event was rated highly, with a suggestion to hold similar events annually to ensure deeper interaction and foster collaboration among all participants.
